The climate is changing. Many contributing reasons are humans activities causing carbon dioxide and other gases.

The world has gotten hotter since 1880 to 2000 and will continue to grow.

One simple way for people to stop climate change is to stop things such as driving everywhere. Walking helps our bodies AND the environment.

Adaption is another way to keep the current climate the same. By changing your life style to match the climate change then the change will not be so drastic and quick.

It's hard for one person to make a difference in the climate on their own. However if each person is willing to do some of the following, change will be noticed;

  • When you buy a car, choose one that gets good mileage.

  • Insulate and weatherize your home or apartment.

  • Carpool or drive less.

  • Replace old, worn-out appliances with the most efficient new models. If the average citizen undertakes all of these actions, they can reduce their carbon dioxide emissions by about 25%, which equals about 5 tons of carbon dioxide per year.

The following are some less useful, however still slightly effective strategies one could use;

  • Turn off lights and appliances when not needed. external image light-switch-off.jpg

  • Plant trees.

  • Set the thermostat lower in winter and higher in summer.

  • Recycle.

More and more car manufacturers are coming out with Hybrid vehicles. "A hybrid vehicle is a vehicle that uses two or more distinct power sources to move the vehicle.[1] The term most commonly refers to hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), which combine an internal combustion engine and one or more electric motors."

Basically, a hybrid uses less gas per mile and causes less damage to the ozone layer than the average car. It would help the climate change issue a lot of more cars used electric engines instead of oil. external image moz-screenshot.jpg

British Columbia has a "No Idling" law. This law means you cannot sit in your car with your engine on while not using it. This law will help the climate change issue if fallowed. It will send less car fumes into the air, resulting in a cleaning atmosphere.

Other ways that Canada can take initiative to help the earth's climate is to switch to Solar Power. This will produce energy without the harmful omissions. Planting trees and recycling are also ways to help resolve greenhouse gases .
